Terms of Service

1. About Longshot

Longshot is a community-maintained database of verified long-range football goals, accessible at longshot.football. It is operated as a sole proprietorship based in Ontario, Canada. By using Longshot, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Who can use Longshot

Anyone may browse the Longshot database for free. To submit goals, you must create an account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

3. Submitting goals

When you submit a goal to Longshot, you agree that:

• The goal genuinely occurred and the video proof you provide is authentic
• You are not submitting duplicate goals already in the database
• The distance and shot origin you mark accurately reflects the footage
• You have the right to link to the video you are referencing
• You are not submitting goals to manipulate rankings or mislead the community

We reserve the right to remove, flag, or reject any submission that violates these terms. Repeated bad-faith submissions may result in account suspension.

4. Payments and refunds

Longshot offers optional paid contributor access. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.

Refund policy: We offer a full refund within 7 days of purchase if you have not submitted more than 5 goals using the paid access. Email hello@longshot.football to request a refund.

5. Intellectual property

Longshot does not claim ownership of any football footage. All video links point to third-party platforms. We do not host or redistribute copyrighted footage. Contributed data is shared under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. The Longshot name and logo are our property.

6. Accuracy of data

Longshot is a community database. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of every entry. Distances are calculated from a standardised pitch model. Frame-verified speeds are estimates and should not be cited as official statistics.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape or reproduce the database in bulk without permission
• Use automated tools to submit goals or create accounts
• Attempt to manipulate rankings or verification counts
• Harass other contributors or post abusive content
• Use Longshot for any unlawful purpose

8. Privacy

We collect your email address when you create an account and store the goals you submit. We do not sell your personal data. We use Supabase for database and authentication, and Stripe for payments. You may request deletion of your account at any time by emailing hello@longshot.football.

9. Limitation of liability

Longshot is provided as-is without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time and will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Longshot after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
